Lucky Day is easy to download and use, but earning money takes a lot of time.

Lucky Day

OUR VIEW

Lucky Day is an Android-only app that claims to pay real money through lotteries, scratch tickets, and raffles. You can also earn money or in-app tokens by participating in special offers like downloading and playing games, watching videos, and visiting websites.

Although Lucky Day is easy to download, whether it pays out is hit or miss. In addition, you must watch multiple ads to use the app, and it has a high payout threshold for gift cards.

After four days of testing, I can say that Lucky Day is easy to use, but I don't recommend it if you’re trying to make a lot of quick money. Learn more about how the app works in this Lucky Day app review.

Pros

Lucky Day is easy to set up and use.
You don’t have to play games to get winnings, but doing so can help you earn more.
You can cash out using PayPal or exchange your tokens for gift cards.

Cons

Several reviewers report never receiving their earnings.
You have to watch a lot of ads to use Lucky Day.
You must earn millions of tokens before you can redeem them for gift cards.

What I learned from playing

  • Although ads pop up everywhere on Lucky Day, if you watch them through the Special Offers tab, the app will pay you 1,000 tokens per ad.
  • Many reviewers are unhappy with Lucky Day and report trouble accessing gift cards through the app after they’ve earned enough to qualify for one.
  • Visiting the app frequently and using the free scratchers and raffle entries can help you maximize earnings, but you need to hit one of the jackpots to earn anything quickly.
  • It takes at least 2 million tokens to cash out a $1 gift card. To put that in perspective, I earned 127,419 tokens over 6 hours of testing.

Is Lucky Day legit?

Lucky Day Entertainment, Inc. has operated since 2015. Its Lucky Day app is currently available on the Google Play Store. It has been downloaded over 10 million times, earned 4.1 out of 5 stars, and received over 1 million reviews.

The app promises to reward you for entering raffles, playing scratch tickets, and picking numbers for the daily in-app lottery jackpot. You can also watch videos, take surveys, and download other apps through its platform.

It awards tokens and some cash for completing all these activities, so it is legit. However, it can take a long time to earn enough to be eligible to withdraw, especially if you don’t win one of the jackpots or raffle prizes. Moreover, several reviewers reported having trouble receiving their winnings after requesting withdrawals.

Lucky Day Entertainment, Inc. has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Lucky Day is a platform that focuses mainly on games of chance, like scratch tickets, lotteries, and raffles. You can also download and play third-party games through Lucky Day, take surveys, or watch videos.

While games are a large part of earning tokens in the app, the focus is on the lotto, scratch tickets, and raffles. Other similar apps often emphasize game downloads, but Lucky Day promotes the games of chance as the fastest way to earn the most.

Monkey Business, Crack the Safe, and Shooting Star games shown on the Lucky Day app.

However, unless you’re one of the lucky few to win a raffle or an even rarer lottery winner, you’ll likely be using Lucky Day for a long time before you can even think about cashing out.

In addition, there are a lot of ads. During testing, I saw ads every time I opened the app and between every game round. I also had to watch ads (called videos in the app) to earn extra scratch tickets or raffle entries.

You can pay a monthly fee to remove some or all of the ads, but Lucky Day doesn’t tell you the cost until you click the ad for this option. When I did, it took me to the Google Play Store, and the package labeled “Most Popular” was $19.99 a month (plus tax).

While I appreciated that watching an ad gave me a reward, like extra tokens or scratch tickets, it became frustrating, especially because Lucky Day plays the same ads repeatedly.

My gameplay experience with Lucky Day

I used Lucky Day for four days straight, trying out various features and seeing if it was a legit game app. I played the different scratch tickets, entered raffles, and picked numbers for the daily jackpot drawing.

You can earn cash through Lucky Day by playing scratch tickets and raffles. You can also receive tokens, the in-app currency, via lottery jackpots and as rewards for playing games, using scratch tickets, and watching ads, among several other tasks.

Although Lucky Day focuses primarily on its own games of chance, you can also download and play third-party game apps to earn more tokens.

My favorite game was Sort Match: 3D Goods Master. It is a straightforward match game involving grouping sets of three items based on a grocery store theme. Although I enjoyed playing it, I had to reach level 25 before I received any tokens from Lucky Day.

I liked the assortment of games offered, but many were difficult to download. When I clicked on a game in the Lucky Day app, a new window to the Google Play Store would open, but it took up about a quarter of my screen. Despite having arrows to expand the window, it wouldn’t open further (at least not on my phone), making it hard to tap and use.

You can also earn more tokens by taking surveys through Tap Research. After completing a basic demographics form, I qualified for multiple surveys. The prizes ranged from 9,000 tokens for a 60-second survey to 121,500 tokens for a 16-minute survey.

The app offers some other ways to earn. These methods generally include visiting an external website or completing another action, like listening to a podcast or taking a quiz.

Plus, Lucky Day will reward you for browsing the web through its app and pays you tokens if you complete a purchase from a partner. During my testing, I saw offers from GQ Magazine, Regal Cinemas, and Nectar Bath, among others.

Tips for maximizing your winnings

You need to develop a strategy to make the most of the Lucky Day app. While you can do the scratch tickets and enter the raffles and lotteries daily, these are games of chance, where you enter and hope you win. However, there are some ways to maximize your earnings.

Sign in every day

Lucky Day offers daily bonuses and refreshes the lotto, raffles, and scratch tickets daily. While these don’t require skill, you never know if today might be your “lucky day.” By signing in daily, you’ll increase your odds of winning, and you can take advantage of any special offers like double tokens or limited deals.

Spend time in more than one activity

Use all of the free games to boost your chances of winning. Even if you prefer scratch tickets to raffles, use all of available options to increase your winnings.

Play a game until it expires

Lucky Day awards tokens based on the levels you reach in a game within 30 days. To maximize your winnings, play each game until you reach the various payout levels, but only until your 30 days run out. Then, download another game and play until you hit that game’s payout levels and maximum time.

Choose higher award offers

Each download and special offer is worth a specific token amount. Look for high offers and devote your time to them. Use the earnings charts that Lucky Day provides to compare your potential payouts and select the most advantageous strategy.

Embrace the ads

In order to earn as much as possible with Lucky Day, use the ads to your advantage. The app pays you 1,000 tokens for every ad you watch under the Special Offers tab. You can also watch ads to earn extra scratch or raffle tickets.

To maximize my earnings, I let the ads play with the volume turned down on my phone, while I watched TV. I occasionally checked in, closed the completed ad, and moved on to the next one.

While you won't make a ton of extra tokens this way, it could help push you over the edge if you’re close to cashing out a gift card.

Take advantage of bonus opportunities

Lucky Day offers additional ways to boost your earnings, including:

  • Friend signups: If you invite friends to sign up through Facebook, you’ll receive a “random amount of $ toward the prize.” I don’t like that Lucky Day doesn’t specify how much you can earn, but if your friends enjoy games, you might make a little extra this way.
  • Trophies: In addition to tokens, Lucky Day awards trophies. Once you’ve collected several trophies, you can enter a tournament to compete for a cash prize.
  • Piggy heists: This mini-game lets you raid other players’ piggy banks. You can collect players' winnings and nuts and bolts, which help you access the Piggy Slots.

How much money can you make?

How much you earn with Lucky Day depends on where you focus your attention. It's a good idea to take a broad approach and spend time with multiple tasks in the app. Each game offers different ways to earn.

Raffles

Lucky Day offers several daily raffles, with winnings of $10, $50, $250, or $1,000. Some raffles claim to cover your groceries for a week or gas for a month but pay only $50 and $20, respectively.

You have to watch ads to access the free raffles that pop up in your daily option. When the ad is complete, you earn a ticket for the raffle. You can also spin the wheel to increase the number of tickets you earn.

If you want to bypass the ads, purchase tickets using the Raffle tab instead. Each ticket for the gas and grocery raffles costs 5,000 tokens, compared to 10,000 tokens for the other raffles.

Lottos

The app offers a daily jackpot that increases until someone wins. You can select your numbers every day.

If you match zero or one number in the daily lotto, you’ll earn 10 or 100 trophies, which will help you enter trophy tournaments. Matching two or three numbers earns you 250,000 or 500,000 tokens. You’ll earn $5 for matching four numbers and $50 for matching five. If you match all six, you claim the jackpot, which stayed over 4 million tokens while I was testing the app.

Scratch tickets

Lucky Day offers free daily scratch tickets as long as (you guessed it) watch some ads.

You must match three of any symbol to win prizes from scratch tickets. Each ticket shows you the symbols you need to match and the grand prize if you win. The grand prize of scratch tickets varied considerably, from $10 to $1,000 or 10,000 to 250,000 tokens.

If you match other symbols — like tokens, trophies, or piles of cash — you win that as a prize. I won trophies most of the time, but I also won $3.50 from the scratch tickets by matching piles of cash on a couple of scratchers.

Games

One of the quickest ways to earn more tokens was to download a game app and complete enough levels. Each game is worth a set amount of tokens if you hit specific levels within a set time frame.

One of the games I played, 3D Sort Match, was worth 230,464 tokens if I reached the highest level within 30 days. I earned progressively more as I reached certain levels. For example, I earned 28,069 tokens when I reached level 25. I would earn the same amount if I reached level 35 and an additional 32,502 tokens if I reached level 50.

A second game I played, Block Jam 3D, was worth 824,478 tokens if I reached level 1,000 within 30 days. I earned 2,955 tokens after reaching level 2 and an additional 11,818 tokens for reaching level 10.

If I reached level 1000 in 30 days, I could earn 287,403 tokens for that milestone, bringing me to the total amount possible. If I don’t complete the challenge in 30 days, I keep what I earned, but the rest disappears.

How to withdraw your winnings

After using the Lucky Day app for around 6 hours across 4 days, I earned 127,419 tokens and $3.50 in cash.

When I went to redeem my tokens, I was shocked that I didn’t even come close to qualifying for a gift card. The smallest amount, a $1 Amazon card, costs 2 million tokens. At my current playing rate, it would take me around 2 months to earn that $1 gift card.

A $2 Amazon gift card costs 3.5 million tokens, while a $4 Target gift card costs 5 million. You can get a $500 Amazon gift card for 500 million tokens.

I also saw a few reviews on Google Play saying that once a player had earned enough for a gift card, Lucky Day would “run out” of the amount they qualified for. The player would then have to check back frequently to see if the cards were “in stock” again.

If you earn enough cash (you need to reach a minimum of $10), you can withdraw your funds via PayPal. As part of the withdrawal process, you’ll need to enter the email address associated with your PayPal account. The terms and conditions state that you’ll pay a fee for every withdrawal, but the app doesn’t provide further information.

Lucky Day says it can take up to 14 days to release your payment. However, if the app suspects fraud, it may hold your money even longer while it investigates.

What are other users saying?

Lucky Day offers cash games for Android phones and has over 1 million reviews on the Google Play Store.

One reviewer, Adam M., called Lucky Day “fun and exciting,” while another, Melinda R., said, “Fun to play… no money yet.” Both gave Lucky Day 5-star reviews.

Interestingly, all 5-star reviews were only a few words long, and no one mentioned being able to cash out successfully.

On the other hand, many 1-star reviews went into greater detail:

  • AJ F. left a review saying the following: “Sells out of redeemable gift cards once you get the amount of coins it costs to purchase. Also stops winning real cash once you hit $9 so you can't cash out. False advertisement to win real money. Lucky day liars.”
  • User Ritesh V. said, “Game is very addictive but redemption is impossible I’m very disappoint” [sic].
  • Another user, Beverly G., wrote, “I played a few years ago. I won money all the time. Then they did an update, & it became impossible to win. I was stuck at $9.95 for months, & you can't cash out until you get $10. I had to delete the app. I decided to try again after 3 years, & it's still the same thing. Ad after ad just to scratch cards. Now I remembered why I quit. You can go ad free but you have to pay them for a package. Stop advertising that you can win money! You have clearly taken that away. Very Disappointing.”

On Trustpilot, the Lucky Day app is ranked 1.6 out of 5 stars, with more 1-star reviews (84%) than any other type.

Alternatives to Lucky Day

If Lucky Day doesn’t sound right for you, or you have an iPhone, don’t worry. Plenty of other apps can help you make money by playing games. Let’s look at two options.

Bingo Cash

Bingo Cash is available on Apple’s App Store and the Samsung Galaxy Store. It's easy to learn but moves fast, so you won’t get bored.

You can play for fun by earning gems and entering gem-only games. However, you can also use gems to enter cash tournaments that pay prizes if you want to play for money. You can deposit your money if you want to enter higher-stakes tournaments faster.

Unlike Lucky Day, Bingo Cash has a minimum payout of $5 and a flat processing fee of $1. I also like that you’ll receive your winnings when playing Bingo Cash. They go back to your original payment method first, and Bingo Cash sends any extra via PayPal, Apple Pay, or Venmo.

Solitaire Cash

If Solitaire is more your game, the same developer, Papaya Gaming, makes Solitaire Cash, a classic Klondike Solitaire game. Solitaire is my favorite game, and I’ve enjoyed using Solitaire Cash so much that I still play it when I need a break.

Like Bingo Cash, you can play Solitaire Cash for fun by winning gems, the in-app currency. You can also play for real money in cash tournaments. While you don’t have to deposit money to win in Solitaire Cash, you may need to if you want to enter high-stakes tournaments.

Solitaire Cash has a $5 minimum withdrawal requirement and a $1 processing fee. The app will first refund your original payment method, followed by PayPal (if you win more than you deposited). It’s available on Apple’s App Store and the Samsung Galaxy Store.

FAQs

Does it cost anything to use Lucky Day?

Lucky Day is free to sign up for, and you don’t have to spend money to use it. However, you’ll spend money to turn off the ads or enter trophy tournaments faster. Many third-party games that Lucky Day tracks may also have spending options to help you get further in that particular game, but it doesn’t help you in Lucky Day.

Can I earn real cash with Lucky Day?

You can earn real cash through Lucky Day’s raffles, lotteries, and scratch tickets. However, these are games of chance, so you may never win.

Instead, you can focus on playing third-party games strategically, watching ads, or taking surveys to earn more tokens. But you have to earn millions of tokens before you can qualify for a gift card to retailers like Amazon, Dunkin, Walmart, and Target.

How safe is Lucky Day?

Lucky Day is a real app on the Google Play Store that has over 10 million downloads. However, many users report never receiving their winnings, and if you earn enough tokens to redeem a high-value gift card, you must act quickly because they often sell out. I don’t recommend Lucky Day because of this and its excessive ads.

Bottom line

The Lucky Day app can be a fun way to pass the time, but it won't top the list of best side hustles. Although you can earn points and cash through the app, it's doubtful you’ll earn enough to cash out at all consistently or possibly at all. Additionally, the constant ads make it challenging to play continuously. Lucky Day feels more like a vehicle for advertisements than anything else.

So, play Lucky Day if you find it fun, but look elsewhere for money-making opportunities. As you search for a new app, do your homework and read the app store ratings and reviews to help you determine whether the money-making app is worth your time.
