Known for its huge, family-style portions that can help you stretch your eating-out budget, the Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo shuttered the following 18 locations across 14 states earlier this year, then filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August.

Since 2020, the Italian American-style restaurant has shuttered about 20% of its locations, noting its struggle to remain competitive due to rising operating costs and trouble staffing.

In November, the court approved the sale of the restaurant chain to its lender, Main Street Capital Corporation, for 27 million dollars.

So, Which Buca di Beppo locations were closed amid bankruptcy — and which are still open?

Here’s the complete list of closures by state and a closer look at what’s to become of this beloved Italian restaurant chain.

The Future of Buca di Beppo

jetcityimage/Adobe Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant

From that rich tomato sauce to the plate-sized chicken parmesan, there are plenty of reasons to continue to visit Buca di Beppo. And if your location isn’t on the closure list, it may be time to head there for Sunday dinner with the family.

After approval from the court during a hearing on November 1, the restaurant chain will now be sold for 27 million dollars to lender Main Street Capital Corporation.

A Texas judge signed off on the deal in November after the 44-unit chain failed to attract other bidders.

Buca di Beppo will become the firm’s largest restaurant holding with 44 locations and more than $172 million in sales last year.

Main Street’s $27 million credit bid will clear Buca di Beppo’s loans, giving the lender control of nearly all the chain’s assets. The company is also offering $36.3 million in financing to keep operations running during bankruptcy.
