How Many of the Top 10 U.S. Tourist Attractions Have You Visited?

Internet travel juggernaut Tripadvisor has released its Travelers' Choice Awards for 2024 based on the deluge of reviews people leave on the website. According to the data, there are 10 U.S. destinations that stand out as must-sees in your lifetime.

If you play your cards right, you can save money on travel while you visit these famous attractions. All admission figures are for adults unless otherwise stated.

While the Empire State Building is not the tallest building in the Big Apple, it is the most famous.

Take in iconic views from the observation decks on the 86th and 102nd floors. Check them out during the day and at night for two different experiences. Cost of entry for one adult is $44 for one deck and $79 for both.

Nearby, you will find Times Square, many Broadway theaters, and Bryant Park to enjoy nature.

You can explore Iolani Palace with a docent ($32.95) or opt for a self-guided experience ($26.95). Either way, you will see stunning artifacts and regalia from Hawaii’s monarchy era. On the grounds, don’t miss the Sacred Mound and Coronation Pavilion.

While you are in town, check out Chinatown, the Honolulu Museum of Art ($25), and the famous Aloha Tower.

A green oasis in the midst of an urban jungle, Central Park is New York’s “843-acre backyard.” Enjoy a stroll, people-watching, and (depending on the season) Shakespeare performances — all free of charge. Admission to the zoo is $19.95 for adults, and boat rentals are $25 per hour.

This famous Gilded Age mansion is an incredible feat of architecture (and decor) in and of itself, but it really comes alive at Christmas time. Explore Stetson Mansion on a self-guided tour ($29.50) or pay $10 more for a guided experience.

You can also head to Blue Springs State Park and see wild manatees ($6 per vehicle).

Arguably the most famous prison in the country, a trip out to Alcatraz Island is a must for history aficionados ($45.25 including audio tour and boat fare). For added spookiness, book a night tour ($56.30). Don’t forget to snag a selfie at the Parade Grounds to document your trip.

Warm up afterward with clam chowder served in a bread bowl at Fisherman's Wharf.

You will find the mansion where Elvis Presley lived with his family here, but there is so much more to Graceland. You will also find a sprawling entertainment complex replete with museum exhibits, cars, the King’s famous outfits, and more. Admission starts at $46.50.

In nearby Memphis, explore the iconic Beale Street and visit Sun Studios ($20), where Elvis and other rock and roll greats cut famous records.

Brooklyn Bridge is a historic feat of architecture that connects Brooklyn to Manhattan over the East River. Gaze up at its neo-Gothic towers as you meander across the 1.1-mile span for free. You can also relax in the park below when the weather is nice.

Visit the Dumbo neighborhood after your stroll for dining and trendy shops, and snap a selfie at the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

A colorful wonder, Chihuly Garden and Glass is a museum dedicated to the work of legendary artist Dale Chihuly. Here, you can take in a 4,500-square-foot glasshouse, eight art galleries, an outdoor glass garden, and a theater ($35 to $39). Stop at the bar afterward for sundries and more of Chihuly’s work.

The Space Needle is right next door. It is another iconic Seattle attraction ($33 to $46.50), so don’t miss it.

When you think of Hawaii, Diamond Head State Monument is the famous landmark that immediately pops to mind. Formed by a volcanic eruption hundreds of thousands of years ago, today, it draws millions with its hiking trails and breathtaking views. Entry is only $10 per car.

When in Waikiki, you can’t miss the beach, complete with views of Diamond Head. The Honolulu Zoo is also a popular destination ($21).
