A new delivery subscription service is on the scene — Target just announced Target Circle 360, the retail giant’s new paid membership program. The new subscription service, which will go live on April 7, will provide perks and bonuses a tier above its popular free loyalty program, Target Circle.

Target Circle will also be relaunching to provide more personalized deals and discounts to members.

But do we really need another retail subscription service? With well-established services like Amazon Prime and Walmart+, will Target Circle 360 be worth it? Find out the different perks each of them offers and which membership may best suit your lifestyle.

  • Delivery in under one hour via Shipt
  • 60-day return window
  • No delivery fees on orders over $35

How Circle 360 compares to Amazon Prime

Unlike Target Circle 360, Amazon Prime has an entertainment component to its membership — members have access to Prime Video, where they can stream content ranging from Thursday Night Football to Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Amazon Prime also offers Prime Reading — a service connecting readers to a library of 3,000 books, audiobooks, newspapers, and comics constantly refreshed with new titles. Notable authors like Margret Atwood and Taylor Jenkins Reid have been included in previous title rotations.

Members can also listen to songs and podcasts with Amazon Music ad-free. Plus, if you’re a gamer, you can activate Prime Gaming, where you can play free games and get a free Twitch.tv subscription.

Their delivery and shipping services are largely similar to Target Circle 360. In addition to two-day free shipping, members can receive same-day delivery through retail partners.

If you’re unsure if you want to commit, Amazon offers a free 30-day trial. A Prime membership costs $14.99 per month or $139 annually, and students can access the same membership for $7.49 per month or $69 per year. Amazon also offers a discounted version, Prime Access, to those who receive qualifying government benefits like SNAP.

How Circle 360 compares to Walmart+

If you have a lengthy commute or driving job, Walmart+ may be the subscription service for you. Members can save $0.10 per gallon at 13,000 fueling locations nationwide with Exxon, Mobil, and Walmart & Murphy stations.

Members also receive auto care benefits like free flat tire repair and a free road hazard warranty at Walmart Auto Care centers across the U.S.

In a partnership with Expedia, members can receive up to 5% Walmart Cash when they use the site for their travel bookings.

Like Target Circle 360, members receive free delivery on orders over $35, and if they need to make a return, they won’t need to travel to the post office — the membership offers free pickup on select returns.

Walmart+ also provides entertainment benefits. Members can activate a free Paramount+ subscription, which includes over 40,000 episodes, movies, live sports, and more.

Walmart+ also offers a 30-day free trial. A subscription costs $12.95 per month or $98 annually.

Bottom line

Paid memberships are a valuable way for companies to deepen relationships with their customers and increase their annual revenue.

Free delivery and other discounted perks could encourage shoppers to utilize these platforms instead of visiting retailers that don’t provide consumer benefits.
