In this role, you will gather and enter data into a spreadsheet or another similar type of document or database — no camera needed. The work could also include creating visualizations of the data with graphs and charts.

Since you'll be working remotely and mainly inputting information into computer systems, the work can be done independently without requiring face-to-face interaction.

As a VA, you will handle the day-to-day tasks for company executives, such as scheduling, bookkeeping, proofreading, answering emails, research, and anything else required of the role. While some virtual assistants might have to answer calls or talk with the executive team, there are plenty of roles that are purely text, call, or email-based.

Bookkeeper

In this role, you will be responsible for tracking day-to-day financial transactions, reconciling bank statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, handling payroll, and performing any other tasks necessary for the smooth operation of your client.

You'll be the go-to source for all financial information, and due to the remote nature of the job, you'll have most of your interactions via email and direct messages. A background in accounting or a degree in a related field is what you'll need to get started.

Medical records and health information technicians

As one of these technicians, you'll spend most of your time reviewing patient records, assigning medical codes for billing/research, and accurately inputting the information into your company database.

Given the nature of this job, you'll spend most of your time alone on your computer. Although you'll occasionally correspond with coworkers, it'll be primarily through email and direct messaging.

Translator/interpreter

In this job, you will translate various texts from one language to another. You will also be able to assist in localizing the translation, ensuring that it remains faithful to the original text while being comprehensible to speakers of the target language.

Since this is a project-based work, you will not have to spend much time attending meetings or video calls. Fluency in both English and one additional language is required for this role.

Graphic designer

As a claims adjuster, you will collect, analyze, and review claim documentation to determine if the claimant meets the requirements to get paid out by the insurance company. You will have to call claimants on the phone or respond by email, but there are often no video calls involved.

Video editor

Whether it's editing short-form social media content or full-length films, you'll have plenty of projects to keep you busy as a video editor. 

Since the vast majority of your work will be done from your computer running editing software, you will have little to no video calls, as most of your correspondence will be done over email and text, especially as a freelancer.

A background in video editing is beneficial, along with a portfolio of work.

Technical writer
