Finding a remote, entry-level job has never been easier. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2019, approximately 6.5% of private sector employees worked from home. By 2021, this figure rose dramatically and has not substantially receded since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Electrical engineer

Median hourly wage: $52.41

Electrical engineers develop, test, and design electrical equipment, including power generation and electrical communications systems. Since you’ll be looking at electrical diagrams and other technical pieces, this can be done from a home office.

An engineering degree will give you the theoretical knowledge to start at an entry-level position and slowly work your way up.

While you may have some occasional on-site tests and inspections, you can perform data analysis and design from your home office.

As an information security analyst, you will protect your organization’s data, networks, and computer systems from outside cyber threats. You’ll design and implement security protocols to safeguard your company’s systems.

Software developer

Median hourly wage: $62.58

This is another data-heavy role that can be done from home. A statistician collects, analyzes, and interprets large swaths of information. From data collection to analysis to modeling, you’ll have your hands on the keyboard for hours.
