Mini golf is a great family activity, a solid choice for a date, and can make for a fun afternoon with friends. It’s become such a popular pastime that Golf.com noted there are currently nearly 1,000 miniature golf courses around the U.S.

To find the best ones, we scoured online reviews from golf lovers and amateurs alike to bring you favorites in all 50 states so you avoid wasting money on subpar courses.

This pirate-themed course dates back to the early 1980s and invites golfers to stroll along the “Tidal Lagoon” and explore caves filled with pirate booty while they play. Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf has a few locations around the South — including several in Florida.

Putters Wild has plenty of other attractions to offer, like virtual reality games, but its 3D black light mini golf course is the big draw. Golfers can enjoy beautiful murals and obstacles that jump from the walls as they go through the 18-hole course in 3D glasses.

As the name suggests, Golfland can meet all your mini golfing and water park needs (at least when Sunsplash is open seasonally). They offer three different golf courses, each with a different Medieval theme, and have many other attractions like laser tag and bumper boats.

Toad Suck has two options for mini golf — a stunning outdoor course filled with beautiful waterfalls and fun surprises and a “haunted” indoor course.

Prehistoric Putt has several locations around Nebraska and one in Missouri, but they call the Lincoln location their “most extreme yet.” You’ll be golfing around 20 life-size dinosaurs and have to navigate many obstacles, like a zip line, ball pit, pinball, and a warped wall.

Located at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, KISS World is a mini golf extravaganza inspired by rock ‘n’ roll legends. The 18-hole course glows in the dark and is packed with KISS-inspired props and memorabilia.
