Decent furniture is often expensive, even at places like Walmart. Worse, some affordable furniture options are too good to be true, and shoppers increasingly notice the lack of quality.

While saving money on Walmart essentials is a good way to budget, home goods prices have been creeping up recently.

Like other cheap furniture at Walmart, this bookshelf's quality leaves much to be desired. Worse, shoppers report that the package misses shelves and hardware, and is wobbly and much smaller than pictured online. Walmart shopper Sarah said, "Very cheap quality of material! SO upset I wasted my money when buying 2 of these shelves! Each box came with a different set of instructions as well, which is weird. 100% do not recommend!"

Try a Mainstays bookcase for a similar price but with much better reviews.

Not if it arrives damaged, in "broken pieces, torn bottom fabric, and torn upholstery," as reviewer Mayra received theirs, adding, "Save your time and aggravation because you WILL be returning it."

This coffee table looks stylish enough for any decor. However, reviewers report that it is hard to assemble.

They also mention missing hardware and poor quality, with one anonymous reviewer claiming that the top started to strip after only using it a few times. The most disappointing part? According to the same reviewer, the table is "not returning it after we spent so much time putting it together."

Reviewer Amanda explained that the unit is "very unsturdy. Screws were super short didnt go all the way through. Sides were super weak. Just happy my tv wasnt on it when it came apart. Would not recommend this at all."
