Luckily, residents of eight new cities will be getting a Walmart this year. The company has expansion plans in store for 2025. Here’s what you can expect.

In early 2024, Walmart announced its expansion strategy for the next five years. The company’s ambitious initiatives include opening over 150 stores under its “Store of the Future” concept. This concept refers to improved store layouts, more product offerings, and new technology.

Walmart’s expansion plans are fuelled by its desire to serve as many consumers as possible, create jobs, and cement its position as a low-cost favorite. For 2025, the retailer is turning its attention to eight new stores. Here’s where shoppers can look forward to a new Walmart.

Eastvale will become the home of a new Walmart Supercenter, including a 16-pump fuel station. The retailer plans to open the store this spring at 14100 Limonite Ave.

The Supercenter will be the first Walmart in the city and will reflect the company’s “Store of the Future” concept so that shoppers will have all the amenities of a modern store, complete with grocery pickup and delivery services.

While Mountain View, California, already has a Supercenter, Walmart will be adding a new location in 2025.

While detailed information about this store is limited, the new location will offer a more approachable layout, an enhanced product range, and better technology.

Another recipient of a shiny new Walmart Supercenter is Cypress, Texas. This city already sports three Walmart stores.

The new location at 8927 Fry Road will offer shoppers a walk-in fuel station, an auto care center, and a pharmacy in addition to the standard grocery and deli offerings. It will open during the spring of 2025.

Walmart has big plans for Collin County this year. Melissa, Texas, is the first of two cities to receive a new Walmart Supercenter.

The Melissa location — planned for the corner of McKinney Street and Legacy Ranch Drive — will include a fulfillment center for online orders. In addition, the store will share a modern layout that is specific to Walmart’s current retail vision.

A Walmart Supercenter will open this year in Celina, Texas — another city in Collin County. The store will welcome customers as part of the new Shawnee Trail Development on the corner of Preston Road and Collin County Outer Loop. It is the first Walmart to open in Celina.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will welcome a Walmart Neighborhood Market. The store had been in the books since 2015, but plans to develop it never materialized until 2024. It will be the second Neighborhood Market in Tuscaloosa and the third Walmart store in general to serve locals.

After rezoning, the store will be located at 8600 Highway 69 South in the Hillcrest neighborhood. It will include a gas station and roughly 250 parking spots.

Milton, Florida, is also on Walmart’s expansion list. The new store will open at 6275 US Highway 90 this summer.

In addition to creating 100 new jobs in the area, this 57,000-square-foot location will offer residents all the amenities of the “Store of the Future” concept. It will be the second Supercenter in the city.

Pace, Florida, already has a Walmart Superstore. However, the retailer will add a Neighborhood Market this year on the corner of Berryhill Road and West Spencer Field Road.

The store will include an eight-pump gas station and will span over 60,000 square feet. The company hopes the expanded product selection and improved customer service will benefit residents while improving its bottom line.

In addition to opening new stores, Walmart wants to bring its “Store of the Future” to existing locations. The retailer wants to remodel 650 stores in 47 states and Puerto Rico.

Through its expansion and remodeling efforts, Walmart hopes its stores will reflect its commitment to investing in America and improving its domestic presence.

In January 2025, Walmart also announced exciting changes to its brand identity. These changes aim to benefit the customer experience, save shoppers time, and maintain Walmart as the top choice for quality at low prices.
