How bad is it in some places? There are a few popular cities where you may have to pay an average of more than $3,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, according to the July 2022 Rent Report.

If you’re trying to find ways to pay your rent on a budget, you may want to avoid these cities to keep some cash in your pocket.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago, known as the Windy City, is the largest city in the Midwest. It also may blow away your money for a two-bedroom apartment. Rent in the city will set you back $3,247 for a place that size, according to Rent.com.

Denver, Colorado

The Mile High city also may have mile-high prices when it comes to rent. According to Rent.com, a two-bedroom apartment in Denver will run an average of $3,253 per month. Part of the reason may be Denver’s population growth in the past few decades, causing more competition in the market.

Washington, D.C.

Living in the nation’s capital can be a pricey endeavor for a renter if they want to stay within the District of Columbia. If you want to live where all the political action is, a two-bedroom apartment will cost you $3,260 on average per month.

Seattle, Washington

Jersey City, New Jersey
