Buc-ee’s fans love to stop by the convenience stores for the store’s famous Buc-ee’s Beaver Nuggets and brisket. And nothing will step up your travel game more than a pit stop at the oh-so-clean bathrooms.
But not everything is great at Buc-ee’s, and there are things we don’t like when we stop by. Here are some of the reasons customers are starting to hate the buck-toothed beaver’s store.

There’s too much traffic
It’s great to check out Buc-ee’s for its brisket, different flavors of fudge, or a whole wall of beef jerky. But you’re not alone.
Buc-ee’s has become too popular, snarling traffic to get into the latest stores.
In fact, Buc-ee’s has met some resistance from cities and towns due to the potential increase in traffic. One planned Buc-ee’s was pulled off the table because planners couldn’t agree on how to manage the additional traffic around the planned store location.
Buc-ee’s are big
A big Buc-ee’s can draw in quite a bit of traffic, but you’re also going to have problems once you get inside.
The stores are huge — some locations are bigger than a football field. You can spend a good amount of time wandering the aisles or losing your family and friends in the store as one person heads to the clean bathrooms while another checks out the fun Buc-ee’s merchandise.
Buc-ee’s bans 18-wheelers
Cars aren’t the only vehicles on the road, and there are plenty of truckers who might want to stop by Buc-ee’s for a break. They’re not allowed.
The stores post signs at the entrances to parking lots letting truckers know that 18-wheelers aren’t allowed with the company stating that its parking lots are not designed for such large vehicles.
Get a protection plan on all your appliances
Did you know if your air conditioner stops working, your homeowner’s insurance won’t cover it? Same with plumbing, electrical issues, appliances, and more.
Whether or not you’re a new homeowner, a home warranty from Choice Home Warranty could pick up the slack where insurance falls short and protect you against surprise expenses. If a covered system in your home breaks, you can call their hotline 24/7 to get it repaired.
For a limited time, you can get your first month free with a Single Payment home warranty plan.
The bathrooms have lines
Sure, the bathrooms at Buc-ee’s are known for being huge and welcoming. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t without their issues.
“Their success has meant even more people stop, and so their bathrooms are getting too small,” lamented one Reddit user.
Drivers park at the gas pumps
One of the great things about stopping at Buc-ee’s is there are always plenty of gas pumps so you can fill up and get back on the road.
But some drivers think the spot next to a gas pump is also a parking spot even though there’s a separate parking lot to use when you’re staying for snacks.
“I hate getting gas at Buc-cee’s for this very reason,” said a Reddit user. “And because it is Buc-cee’s, their car will be there for 15 minutes or more.”
Trending Stories
Not everyone likes the brisket
You may hear a call for fresh brisket on the board when workers bring out a new slab of beef to cut up and serve, but not everyone is enamored with the Buc-ee’s staple and gets the hype.
“BBQ sandwiches smelled good, but not much flavor and were expensive,” said one Redditor.
Parking lots are dangerous
The traffic, gas pumps, and cars driving looking for a spot can make navigating a Buc-ee’s parking lot almost dangerous.
There are no signs or special designations for pedestrians who are trying to go inside to buy Beaver Nuggets or get out with their fudge samples, so you’ll need to keep your head up as you walk through the lot back to your car.
It’s too crowded
Is it possible for Buc-ee’s to be too popular? Because some customers are sad that their favorite Buc-ee’s are too packed.
Stores have lines for the bathrooms, lines to check out, and lines to get in and out of the parking lot.
“Absolutely not worth the hassle anymore,” said Reddit user liloto3.
It’s hard to find a squeegee
A staple of any road trip gas station is a squeegee at the pump to clean off your windshield. But it can be hard to find them at Buc-ee’s.
The store doesn’t have them right at the pumps, so you’ll have to search around and see if you can find one at the tire air station instead, which could add more time to your trip.

There’s too much merchandise
You can buy all kinds of items with the Buc-ee’s beaver plastered all over it. Next time you visit, check out the store for a Buc-ee’s swimsuit, Buc-ee’s pajama pants, or a warm Buc-ee’s blanket for a cold night.
But all that merchandise can be a little too much. “I definitely don’t get the hype,” said a Reddit user.
The food isn’t that great
Buc-ee’s is known for the wide variety of food on offer — from the beef briskets and pastries to its fudge and candied nuts.
However, not everyone is impressed. One Reddit user said of Buc-ee’s food: “I could get the same quality for the same price in less time by going through a fast food drive-thru.”
They aren’t cheap
Buc-ee’s has plenty of things to buy, but some of them can be more expensive than you would expect.
One Reddit user complained that they were overpriced, while another said they were disappointed in the small size of the BBQ sandwich, considering it was $12.
Bottom line
Buc-ee’s can be a great place to stop for some but a nightmare for others.
Regardless of whether you like Buc-ee’s or hate it, it’s smart to use the best travel credit cards when you’re there to earn extra perks that can be used on hotels and other travel needs while you’re on the road.
