Who should get this card?

While the TD Ameritrade Client Rewards Card can be for anybody, it’s designed with TD Ameritrade account holders in mind. It offers extra benefits for people with existing brokerage accounts through TD Ameritrade.

Since this credit card earns unlimited 1.5% cash back on all eligible purchases, it’s best for people who spend across a wide range of categories. If that’s not you, other cashback credit cards may offer higher earning rates in categories of interest to you.

The Client Rewards Card is also a decent option for people who like to earn cash back, but don’t want to think about it too much or pay an annual fee. However, it's worth noting that other cashback cards offer a higher rewards rate. But if you're looking for simplicity, this card might be for you — earning the same rewards for every purchase makes it easy to track your cash back.

People interested in transferring existing credit card balances to a new card should look elsewhere. The TD Ameritrade Client Rewards card doesn’t offer favorable balance transfer terms. There is no introductory 0% APR available with this card.

Earning & redeeming cash back

Best ways to earn

The TD Ameritrade Client Rewards card makes earning cash rewards simple. Cardholders earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on all eligible purchases. There are no caps on rewards you can earn.

As an added perk for signing up for this TD credit card, you can earn a $100 cash bonus after spending $500 in the first 90 days.

Maximizing your redemptions

The best way to maximize your redemptions with the TD Ameritrade credit card is to be an existing TD Ameritrade brokerage customer or open a new brokerage account. If you choose to move your rewards to a TD Ameritrade brokerage account, you will earn an extra 10% in rewards. That’s $10 extra for every $100 redemption. The extra rewards are deposited into your brokerage account as well.

You can redeem your rewards after earning a minimum of 2,500 rewards points. Rewards can also be redeemed for statement credits, direct deposits, mailed checks, gift cards, travel, and more.

With this card, your rewards are worth roughly $0.01 each when used for statement credits, travel, and gift cards. The point value for other redemptions can vary. You can redeem your rewards through the Rewards Program website or by calling the TD Ameritrade customer service line.

Something to note is that redemptions into IRAs and select tax-advantaged accounts may have tax implications. Contact your tax professional or a financial advisor if you have questions about this redemption option.
