At FinanceBuzz, we love a good side hustle, and the Force is strong with this one.
In celebration of Star Wars Day on May the 4th, we want to pay someone $1,000 to watch the nine canonical movies of the Skywalker saga.
The catch? We’re looking for someone who’s brand new to the franchise — a first-timer to the Force, a true young Jedi — to rate and evaluate the saga from an outsider’s perspective. We’ll use our Wookiee Rookie’s analysis for an upcoming story on the franchise.
In exchange for your 25 hours and 7 minutes (the length of Episodes I to IX) of movie-watching, we’ll pay you $1,000 for your efforts, plus $100 to cover the costs of streaming, snacks, or a lightsaber.
We'll feature your analysis along with our other seasonal side hustles and in an upcoming story on FinanceBuzz.
Why we want to pay someone to watch the Star Wars saga
It’s almost the 25th anniversary of Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and the saga’s being re-released in major cities this May. We want to experience every moment through fresh Padawan eyes, from the initial hero’s journey on Tatooine to Rey’s journey of self-discovery.
Given the vast volume of content in the franchise, we know it’s a big decision to start watching Star Wars in 2024. But our team have all been fans since we were just baby Yodas, so we need an outsider’s perspective to help answer the question: Is it worth it?
The assignment
To be eligible for this assignment, you must be a first-timer to the Star Wars franchise: no movies, no shows (including The Mandalorian), or video games. Starting in chronological order (by release date), you’ll make your way from Episode IV: A New Hope all the way to Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. And if you’re wondering why we didn’t start with Episode I, you’re probably the right person for our job.
We’ll ask you to answer some questions, give your impressions, and rate each movie. We’ll use your data for an upcoming story on FinanceBuzz.
What you’ll get
We’ll pay our Wookiee Rookie $1,000, plus $100 to cover the costs of streaming (or movie tickets), snacks, and whatever else you need to go on this epic adventure through the galaxy.
