Shares move higher
SOFI opened at $15.80 and has traded between $15.74 and $16.20 during the session. The move took the stock above its $15.77 previous close, with traders watching whether the afternoon gain can hold into the close.
The stock's intraday move kept attention on the near-term setup rather than a broader reset in the shares. The day's trading also came with a defined company update approaching later in October.
Earnings date is set
SoFi plans to release third-quarter 2026 results on its investor relations website at about 7 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The company plans to host a conference call at 8 a.m. ET that morning to discuss financial and operating results.
That date gives the market a defined checkpoint after a busy stretch for the online bank and financial technology company. The report will put member growth, lending trends, fee income and expense discipline back in focus.
Consensus EPS is in focus
Published Zacks data put the current-quarter consensus earnings estimate for SoFi at $0.17 per share, implying a year-over-year increase from the comparable period. The estimate gives the Oct. 27 report a profitability marker for traders tracking the company's growth path.
The same data cited consensus earnings of $0.60 per share for the current fiscal year and $0.81 per share for the next fiscal year. Those figures keep profitability, credit trends and operating costs near the center of the coming report.
Stablecoin rollout advances
SoFi and Mastercard's stablecoin push has also been part of the recent market discussion. Benzinga reported that SoFi became the first OCC-regulated national bank to go live with stablecoin settlement across Mastercard's global payments network, shifting an annualized $25 billion card program onto stablecoin rails using SoFiUSD.
A stablecoin is a digital token designed to track the value of a traditional currency such as the U.S. dollar. The companies plan to pursue additional SoFiUSD applications across Mastercard's ecosystem, including cross-border payments and remittances, according to the report.
Payward partnership adds context
On Sept. 3, SoFi announced a strategic partnership with Payward Inc., the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, to connect banking and digital asset markets. The Mastercard integration followed that earlier digital-asset milestone.
Under the Payward agreement, Payward joined the SoFi Exchange Network to list SoFiUSD on its multi-asset trading platform. SoFi also tapped Kraken Prime to serve as its primary engine for institutional digital asset trade execution, giving the stablecoin effort a broader market-structure angle.
Bottom line
SOFI is higher in Monday afternoon trading, and the stock's near-term story now centers on execution. SoFi's app continues to rank among must-have investing apps for retail traders, and the Oct. 27 earnings report will give Wall Street updated numbers on the company's core business, while the Mastercard and Payward stablecoin initiatives give the market a newer payments story to measure against those results.
