Here is the thing about shopping for fall items at Sam's Club: searching "fall" barely scratches it. The club files most of its autumn stock under "harvest," and a surprising share of it is shipping-only online, which means it never shows up in a pickup search at all.

These carry a 4.9-star rating across 2,122 ratings, which is about as close to unanimous as a paper plate gets. You get 85 plates at 12 cents each, each one measuring 10 by 10 inches and built from cut-resistant, soak-proof Performa Paperboard.

The print is the reason to buy now. Autumn leaves, branches, and acorns in orange, yellow, green, and brown, and once the seasonal endcap clears in November, it is gone until next year.

Two things to know. It ships only, so there's no pickup or delivery. And one buyer, AmYoder, had to run it through the wash twice to stop it shedding fibers onto her bedding.

The sole is the part worth paying attention to. It is an indoor and outdoor traction sole, so a trip to the mailbox does not mean changing shoes.

One buyer titled her review "Going back for a second pair" and said she does not trip on the stairs the way she did in a pair of Uggs.

Fair warning: this listing is a mess, describing the same slipper as microsuede, velvet leopard, and cable knit in three different places. Check the colorway photo before you order.

September is layering weather, and a $15.98 fleece polo covers the awkward stretch when mornings are cold and afternoons are not. This one is 70% cotton and 30% recycled polyester, with a three-button placket, ribbed cuffs, and a matching waistband.

Sizes run XS through 3XL in three heathers: purple, heather gray, and bay leaf. All three are online only and ship rather than sit in the club.

That sellout is the argument for moving now. Only available online, this candle has 3.8 stars on just 17 ratings, and every review posted so far is an incentivized one, so buy it for the scent notes rather than the star count.

This is the splurge, and it is also the biggest per-cup savings on the list. Sixty-four pods at $41.98 works out to 66 cents a pod. Target sells the 22-count box of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Flavored Light Roast K-Cup Pods for $18.29, which is 83 cents a pod.

The variety pack has Pumpkin Spice, Cinnamon Dolce, and Caramel. Starbucks pulls it once the season turns, so take advantage now.

Members rate it 4.5 stars. One reviewer, LM, summed up the math without doing any: "No need to go through Starbucks before work." Watch for Instant Savings on this one, which knocked $9 off earlier in September. There is a limit of five per member.

A few smart September buys can stretch your grocery budget straight through the holidays. Fall inventory at a warehouse club does not work like fall inventory at a grocery store. Most of it is a one-time buy, filed under the club's own seasonal label, and when the endcap clears, it does not come back until next year. Waiting until November means paying holiday prices for whatever is left.
