Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) dropped 37.9% from its 10-for-1 stock split in November 2025 through October 20, compressing the valuation to roughly 17 times estimated 2027 earnings. Q3 revenue grew 11.8% year over year to $12.87 billion with a 34.6% operating margin, up from 28.2% a year earlier.

The company cut its full-year ad revenue forecast to about $2.7 billion from $3 billion, citing a slower rollout of ad product capabilities. Shares closed at $65.04 on October 21, giving the company a market capitalization of $270.82 billion. A 38% post-split decline pushed the stock to a two-year low near $65

The 10-for-1 stock split took effect on November 17, 2025, and shares have fallen steadily since. The 52-week range of $64.10 to $116.73 shows the stock near its lowest point over the past year.

At 17 times estimated 2027 earnings, the valuation looks compressed compared with the past decade, with analyst consensus at $3.80 earnings per share (EPS). A gross margin of 50.95% means Netflix earns roughly 51 cents on every dollar of revenue before operating costs, the Motley Fool noted.

Q3 operating margin reached 34.6% as net income rose 44% to $3.66 billion

Operating income jumped 37% year over year to $4.46 billion, and net income rose to $3.66 billion from $2.55 billion on margin expansion from 28.2% to 34.6%. Diluted EPS climbed 49% to $0.87 from $0.59, partly because the company bought back 63.9 million shares for $4.8 billion during the quarter, Netflix's Q3 shareholder letter outlined.

Free cash flow reached $2.88 billion in Q3, up from $2.66 billion a year earlier, and content spending rose to $5.16 billion from $4.65 billion. The company described its audience as approaching one billion people globally, Netflix's Q3 shareholder letter documented.

Full-year ad revenue forecast fell to $2.7 billion from $3 billion

The roughly 10% reduction in the ad forecast dragged the full-year 2026 revenue projection to $51.1 billion, about 0.2% below the prior midpoint. Ad revenue rose 2.5 times to over $1.5 billion in 2025, so the $2.7 billion target represents roughly 80% growth, but at a slower pace than investors expected, the Motley Fool noted.

  • The ad-supported tier offers a lower monthly price in exchange for commercials, helping Netflix retain price-sensitive subscribers, the Motley Fool outlined.
  • Netflix plans to launch the ad tier in 15 new countries in 2027, starting with nine markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) plus Colombia, Peru, and New Zealand, Netflix's Q3 shareholder letter noted.
  • YouTube's Q2 2026 ad revenue reached $11.06 billion in a single quarter, and its share of United States (U.S.) television time is growing faster than Netflix's, the Motley Fool reported.

Netflix spent $4.8 billion on buybacks in Q3, with $22.3 billion still authorized

The $4.8 billion Q3 repurchase reduced the diluted share count to 4.19 billion from 4.34 billion a year earlier, boosting EPS by spreading the same profit over fewer shares. Year-to-date buybacks totaled $10.78 billion, and the remaining $22.3 billion authorization suggests management sees the stock as undervalued, Netflix's Q3 shareholder letter documented.

Cash stood at $8.19 billion against $15.13 billion in total debt, leaving net debt of about $7.11 billion. A third price increase in under three years hit the U.S. ad-supported, standard, and premium tiers earlier in 2026, the Motley Fool reported, with member response consistent with prior adjustments, according to Netflix's Q3 shareholder letter.

Revenue growth slowed from 17% to 12% over four quarters

Year-over-year revenue growth fell from 17.2% in Q3 2025 to 16.2% in Q1 2026, 13.4% in Q2, and 11.8% in Q3, a steady deceleration that could weigh on recovery. Q4 guidance calls for revenue of $13.44 billion, or about 11.5% growth, and an operating margin of 26.0% that reflects costs from headcount reductions, Netflix's Q3 shareholder letter showed.

Full-year free cash flow guidance slipped to about $12.0 billion from $12.5 billion, partly from a real estate transaction expected in Q4. Instagram and TikTok compete for mobile viewing time, and Skydance outbid Netflix for Warner Bros. Discovery, adding a well-funded competitor, the Motley Fool documented.

Margins and buybacks are rising even as revenue growth and ad projections slow

Operating margin expanded from 28.2% to 34.6% year over year in Q3, and the full-year forecast is 31.5%, Netflix's Q3 shareholder letter outlined. The $2.7 billion ad revenue target represents roughly 80% growth from 2025's $1.5 billion, but the revision from $3 billion shows the ad business is ramping slower than planned, the Motley Fool showed.

For retirees holding NFLX through the 38% decline, this gap between strengthening margins and weakening revenue growth could shape whether the stock recovers or stays compressed near its two-year low, as the Motley Fool described it.

Bottom line

The Q4 slate features NFL's Thanksgiving Eve game, a Christmas Day doubleheader, and the Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua fight, events aimed at subscriber retention during the holiday quarter. Nine-month net income reached $12.35 billion, up from $8.56 billion a year earlier, with diluted EPS at $2.90 versus $1.97.

Content obligations totaled $25.22 billion, a pipeline that supports future programming but limits flexibility.
