AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (NYSE:AMC) shares were up 2.83% near $2.54 in Friday afternoon trading, rising $0.07 from a previous close of $2.47. The stock opened at $2.50 and traded between $2.49 and $2.58 as investors weighed record quarterly results, one of the clearer signs of financial success in AMC's recent turnaround, against recent digital-ticketing outage reports. Its low absolute price means even small dollar moves can be notable in percentage terms for short-term stock watchers.

Friday trading range
AMC's move kept the stock in a narrow band after the open. The intraday high was $2.58, and the intraday low was $2.49. The gain put shares above the prior close, but the day's range stayed tight for the low-priced shares.
Record quarter
AMC reported Q2 2026 revenue of $1.60 billion, up 14.2% from a year earlier and above analyst estimates of $1.47 billion. Adjusted EBITDA reached $321.4 million, up 69.6% and above the expected $199.4 million. Adjusted EBITDA is a profit measure that excludes some costs, taxes, interest, and depreciation.
Cash flow improved
On a non-GAAP basis, AMC reported earnings of $0.14 per share, compared with expectations for a loss. Free cash flow totaled $190.1 million in the quarter. That is cash left after the company covers operations and major investments.
Blockbusters drove traffic
Recent blockbuster releases helped power the quarter and the August narrative around theater stocks. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" drove more than 10.2 million attendees during AMC's record Wednesday-through-Sunday stretch, along with record admissions and food-and-beverage revenue across AMC and ODEON. "The Odyssey" delivered more than 4.3 million opening-weekend admissions at AMC and the company's strongest IMAX performance for a single title over its first two weekends.
Digital outage drew scrutiny
AMC's online ticketing systems drew outage reports on August 18 during the "Dune: Part Three" ticket drop. More than 1,000 outage reports came in after tickets went on sale, with many complaints tied to the mobile app. The episode mattered because AMC Stubs members represented 51.5% of U.S. attendance in the first quarter, making digital ticketing a key sales channel. No official financial impact had been disclosed in the cited coverage.
Analyst views are split
Analysts remain divided after the sharp operating rebound. Seven analysts tracked by Google Finance showed three Buy ratings, three Hold ratings, and one Sell rating. The average target stood at $2.80, with a high target of $4.00 and a low target of $1.80. The wide range underscored uncertainty around box-office durability as well as debt, interest costs, film-slate volatility, and dilution risk.
Bottom line
AMC shares were higher in Friday afternoon trading as the market balanced record quarterly results against execution risk in a business still tied closely to hit films and digital ticketing. Retail traders watching the move on must-have investing apps are focused on whether premium-format demand can keep supporting revenue, cash flow, and attendance while the company manages debt and potential dilution.
