Malls and shopping centers across the country are losing Express stores and factory outlets.

Express filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April, and that resulted in stores closing from coast to coast.

The closings affect both Express and Express Factory Outlet stores that sell clothing, accessories, and other items. Check this list to see if your favorite Express store is disappearing.

California will still have the most Express locations of any state in the country, but these closings will drop the number of stores to 38 stores.

Colorado

All three store closings announced by Express will impact the greater Denver area, leaving three other locations in Colorado open: Stores in Aurora, Littleton, and another location in Denver.

The closings in Connecticut include an Express Factory Outlet where customers could buy Express clothes, accessories, and other items at a discounted price.

District of Columbia

Florida

Illinois

Chicago is losing two Express locations, but the store at Water Tower Place on Michigan Avenue’s famed Magnificent Mile will remain open.

Indiana

The Southlake Mall location isn’t the only Express store in a mall that is closing as part of the shutdown.

Malls have been struggling in recent years due to the growth of online shopping, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the bankruptcies of companies such as Express.

Iowa

Iowa’s two retail Express stores in West Des Moines and Coralville weren’t affected, while the three closings are all at outlet stores.

Louisiana

Louisiana’s three Express stores in the state will remain open. On the other hand, the factory outlet in Bossier City is closing, meaning customers will lose a place to save money shopping.

Maryland

Maryland will still have four locations in malls in the state, with Express stores in Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, the Towson Town Center in Baltimore, and the Annapolis Mall and Columbia Mall remaining open.

Massachusetts

Newbury Street in Boston is known for its shopping district and high-end stores that residents and visitors like to frequent, but they will have to do that without an Express store now.

Michigan

The Sterling Heights Express in the Lakeside Mall was doomed when it was announced that the mall plans to shut its doors for the last time on July 1.

Minnesota

Missouri

Nebraska

With closure of the Express location at Gateway Mall, Nebraska will be reduced to just one Express store for the entire state. That store is located in Omaha.

Nevada

While the Henderson store is closing, residents will still be able to choose from four locations in nearby Las Vegas that will remain open.

New Hampshire

One reason stores like the one in North Conway may be closing is that customers aren’t returning to shop.

“They used to be good in 2010-ish and one day their quality wasn't worth the price tag so I stopped going,” said Reddit user Sad-Firefighter-5738.

New Jersey

The closings in New York include the Express flagship store in Times Square that the retailer opened a decade ago.

North Carolina

The retailer’s closing of the Express store at Northlake Mall is another blow for the struggling shopping center. It has lost several other retail chain stores, including an Apple store last year.

Pennsylvania

Tennessee

In a statement about the Express store closings, company CEO Stewart Glendinning said stores like the one in Franklin are closing as part of “an important step that will strengthen our financial position and enable Express to continue advancing our business initiatives.”

Texas

Dulles Town Center has struggled in recent years, and a new investor recently bought the property to redevelop it. However, that move comes too late to save the Express location there from closing.

News reports say the Vancouver Mall has been bringing in more small businesses and local tenants recently. However, national retailer Express is walking away.

Wisconsin
