Rising food costs may seem inescapable. And although egg prices are still high, the good news is that in many popular grocery stores, shoppers are beginning to see some relief.

FinanceBuzz has been collecting real-time egg prices from around the country to understand what consumers are actually paying at the grocery store, and this week, prices were down by 24 cents. According to the most recent data, more retailers are slashing egg prices, and that means that in many stores, prices have dropped to under $3.

At H-E-B, consumers can expect to pay just $2.99 for a dozen eggs, according ot the FinanceBuzz study. This is a decrease in price from two weeks ago, when a dozen eggs cost $3.25.

Kroger

At Kroger, the price of a dozen eggs comes in right under the $3 mark. As of this week, you'll pay just $2.99 on average at the grocery chain.

Meijer

This week, prices at Meijer come in at $2.79. Two weeks ago, shoppers had to pay 20 cents more at the supermarket when the average price for a dozen eggs was $2.99.

Previously, eggs at Target were priced at $2.99. This week, the average cost of a dozen large white eggs is 20 cents cheaper. Now, you'll pay $2.79 for a carton.

At Walmart, the price of a dozen eggs this week is $2.72. Previously, shoppers had to pay $2.96, which means you're now saving 24 cents.

Aldi

Aldi shoppers will see the most savings at the grocery store this week. The chain reduced prices by 26 cents, with the average cost of a dozen large white eggs coming in at $2.71. Two weeks ago, shoppers could expect to pay $2.97 on average.

FinanceBuzz reports that the average cost of a dozen eggs this week was $3.01 per dozen, and in-store egg prices are now down 45% since reaching a high in March. And though this is helping shoppers keep even more money in their wallets, there are other things you can do to save money at the grocery store.

Opting for store-brand items over name brands could help lower your grocery bill, as these items are often cheaper. Going to the store with a list also reduces the chance of impulse purchases and could potentially save you as much as 20% or more while shopping.
