Is the cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory all that great? No, say folks who feel the chain focuses too much on quantity instead of quality.

That's in addition to a menu that's too large, but filled with dishes that disappoint. Plus, reading the nutrition information for almost anything may alarm health aficionados.

Panera

Panera has long branded itself as a healthy and sustainable alternative in the fast casual space, but many menu items aren't dietitian-approved. This frustrates diners, who note that McDonald's burgers have comparable nutrition information in some cases.

Plus, customers find the food to be mediocre, as well as overpriced, with a lack of menu consistency.

Texas Roadhouse

The removal of peanut buckets from the menu made a lot of loyal Texas Roadhouse patrons angry. Others lament the quality (or lack thereof) of their steaks.

Some argue that the overall quality has gone down in recent years, citing the disappointing bread rolls that used to be customer favorites.

Starbucks

The lines at Starbucks belie the complaints that many have with it, starting with over-roasted coffee that tastes burnt (hence the nickname "Charbucks"). Coffee aficionados speculate that this is how the chain gets consistent flavor across its many locations.

Customers also take umbrage at the high price points and say that too much ice is added to cold drinks, tempering the flavor.

Chick-fil-A

Customer service aside, which is by many accounts exceptional, the long drive-thru lines at Chick-fil-A puzzle those who find more flavor at Popeyes.

The fries aren't spared from the accusation of blandness, either, nor is the bare bones menu, which relies far too much on sauce for any excitement.

Applebee's

Although Applebee's has been in operation for over four decades, critics often say the food there is on par with premade frozen food you can pop in the microwave at home.

The menu also pairs disparate items with flavors that don't match and lacks options for anyone who's not an avid carnivore.

Wendy's

Fast food aficionados agree that Wendy's used to serve high-quality food, but there's been a decline that some trace back to the famous chicken sandwich wars.

Complaints range from a lack of seasoning to dull meat, sweet treats with a plastic-infused flavor, and inflated prices. Even the barbecue sauce was accused of being unrecognizable.

Five Guys may use fresh ingredients and quality oils, but that doesn't make up for the cost of the food, according to many who've expressed ire about their prices.

Papa John's

Papa John's takes in billions in revenue every year, but some folks are staunchly convinced it's wildly overrated.

It starts with what patrons have called basically non-existent customer service, as in they'll order pizza and nothing is ever delivered. It ends with people calling the food trash that's far too expensive.

Subway

According to former patrons of Subway on Reddit, "The quality nosedived years ago." They say the bread is lackluster and dry, while the meat portions are too small to be satisfying.
