These 31 Cities Are Getting a Barnes & Noble in 2025 (Is Yours One?)

In a world of increasingly invasive digital tech, books offer a sweet reprieve so good it feels like the best shopping hack for entertainment— so it's not surprising people are returning to bookstores to scoop up physical copies of books.

And Barnes & Noble is happy to cater to the rising demand. The company set out to open 60 new locations in 2025, and they're already over halfway there. An additional 31 stores are scheduled to open throughout the rest of the year.

The major book retailer hasn't announced specific cities and addresses yet, but according to USA Today, they have revealed that there are still 31 new locations left to be announced for opening this year, and more planned for 2026. The following states will be getting a new Barnes & Noble by the end of the year.

• Connecticut
• District of Columbia
• Florida
• Idaho
• Louisiana
• Michigan
• New York
• Ohio
• Pennsylvania
• Tennessee
• Texas
• Washington

Some of these states will be getting more than one new Barnes & Noble, and many states have already had one of the new bookstores open this year. See where the newest Barnes & Noble locations have opened so far.

• Phoenix: 2011 E. Camelback Road

At the end of June, a new Barnes & Noble opened in the Biltmore community in a space formerly occupied by Forever 21. This is the first new B&N to be opened in the city in the last 20 years.

• Brentwood: 2475 Sand Creek Road

On Jan. 29, Barnes & Noble returned to Brentwood after closing last October. Author Evelyn Skye was honored with the ribbon-cutting ceremony and signed copies of her books for the event.

• Superior: 550 Marshall Road

The town of Superior may have lost its Party City, but it's gained a Barnes & Noble at the end of January. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by author Patricia Raybon, who has written the popular "Analee Spain" mystery series.

• Southbury: 775 Main St. S.
• Stamford: 1145 High Ridge Road

Connecticut got two new Barnes and Noble bookstores, one in May and the other in June. New York Times Bestselling authors Lynne and Valarie Constantine conducted the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Stamford location. Southbury's grand opening ceremony had the ribbon cut by Terri-Lynne DeFino, author of "Didn't You Use to Be Queenie B?"

• Miami: 13605 S Dixie Highway
• Naples: 4149 Tamiami Trail N.
• Tampa: 13123 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
• Tequesta: 151 N. US Highway 1

Miami was the most recent Florida city to see a Barnes & Noble opening, on Sept. 3.

• Naperville: 9 Jackson Ave.

Author Mary Kubica hosted the ribbon-cutting and book signing for the Naperville Barnes & Noble, which opened in April. Her newest release is "She's Not Sorry."

• Overland Park: 7840 W 161st St.

Author Angela Cervantes opened the new Barnes & Noble at Bluhawk Mall in August, cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her newest book. This is the second location to come to Overland Park, and the third in Johnson County.

• Pasadena: 8044 Ritchie Highway
• Westminster: 402 Englar Road

The new Westminster bookstore opened in July, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by author B.K. Borison.

The Pasadena location opened in September, with a ribbon-cutting by New York Times Best Selling author Brigid Kemmerer, who went on to sign copies of her latest release.

• Grand Rapids: 2236 E. Beltline Ave. NE

Barnes & Noble cut the ribbon for a brand new space located at The Village at Knapp's Crossing on March 26.

• Minnetonka: 11500 Wayzata Blvd.

The new B&N is actually a relocation of their previous store at the Ridgehaven Shopping Center, which closed in July. The new location opened in August with a ribbon-cutting from author William Kent Krueger.

• Papillon: 7949 Towne Center Parkway

April saw the launch of the new store in Shadow Lake Towne Center, in a space formerly occupied by Best Buy.

• Clark: 1255 Raritan Road

The Clark community lost its original Barnes & Noble in 2022, but now it's back in a space that was previously a Party City. Author Nisha Sharma celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting and book signing.

• Huntington Station: 301 Walt Whitman Road

Barnes & Noble had to push back the opening date for this new location due to permitting issues, but it opened in April, where a Johnson Fitness & Wellness was previously located.

• Dublin: 3708 W. Dublin-Granville Road
• North Canton: 5501 Dressler Road

In February, a new Barnes & Noble opened in Belden Park Crossings of North Canton, where the Arhaus was previously located. The store also features an oversized fireplace with adjacent seating for a cozy atmosphere.

Additionally, May brought a relocation of the local B&N to Sun Center, in a space formerly occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond.

• Bryn Mawr: 720 W. Lancaster Ave.
• York: 2935 Concord Road

Bryn Mawr's new Barnes & Noble is actually the same space they occupied 18 years ago, which was most recently a Walgreens.

The York location opened in July, where a Christmas Tree Shops was formerly located. Lucy Score cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony and then signed copies of her novels.

• Rapid City: 1617 Eglin St.

Big Lots' loss is Barnes & Noble's gain when it comes to Rushmore Crossing, as the bookstore has taken over the location. It opened in July with children's author Sean Covel cutting the ribbon prior to a book signing.

• Germantown: 2130 Exeter Road

The new Barnes & Noble in Germantown occupies a space that was formerly a NEST Decor and opened in August.

• Abilene: 3417 Catclaw Drive
• Houston: 12850 Memorial Drive
• Rockwall: 1009 E. Interstate 30

Barnes & Noble is reopening the Houston store, which has been completely remodeled, and sits in the Town & Country Village. The total renovation was completed for a January opening.

• Gainesville: 8139 Stonewall Shops Square
• Glen Allen: 9840 Brook Road

Gainesville's new B&N is located in The Shops at Stonewall, where a Bed Bath & Beyond used to be. The store also features an updated B&N Cafe.

Glen Allen's new bookstore opened in July, with author Maggie Stiefvater cutting the ribbon and signing her books for shoppers.

• Bellevue: 1140 Bellevue Square
• Issaquah: 775 NW Gilman Blvd.
• Lakewood: 10330 59th Ave. SW

The new Bellevue B&N opened in January and marks the return of the bookselling chain to Bellevue, which closed in 2022 so a residential development could be built.

In February, the Issaquah location opened in another former Bed Bath & Beyond store, and the local Lakewood B&N is now happily situated in Lakewood Towne Center.

Barnes & Noble has suffered setbacks in the past, but it is poised to make a comeback by focusing on providing not just books but also the atmosphere of a place to relax, read, and grab coffee and a snack while perusing the newest and hottest reads.

The addition of authors and book signings to the grand openings will leave readers clutching their best cash back credit cards to stock up on books that offer an escape from the invasive digital landscape of entertainment in the modern era.
