When I started freelancing, I dreamed of making $200 in one day. I thought about all the ways the extra money would help me and my family, and it motivated me to do something new and scary. I chose writing for my freelance journey, but there are many ways to make $200 a day.

For example, you can do classic side hustles like driving for delivery apps, grocery shopping, and providing pet or childcare services. You can also get creative and find new ways to earn money like becoming an online bookkeeper or transcriber.

While earning $200 a day is possible, it may not be as easy as snapping your fingers. You can do it, but you must be realistic about the time and energy needed to accomplish your goal.

How to potentially make $200 a day

In the traditional job market, if you want to make more money, you have to look for a new job that pays more.

While that's still an option, some apps and websites can help you start a side hustle within a few minutes or hours. Working up to possibly earning $200 a day may take time but probably not as long as applying for a new 9-to-5 job.

Many of the best side hustles can be found by turning your existing skills into freelance work. However, if you want a break from what you do every day or don't want to work a traditional job, consider using the websites and apps below to help you earn more.

Deliver for DoorDash

Driving for a food delivery site like DoorDash can be a great way to make extra cash. DoorDash lets you set your schedule and offers a base pay rate, promotions, and tips. However, you are generally responsible for all your expenses like gas and car maintenance. To sign up, you must have a valid driver's license, car insurance, and pass a background check. You must be at least 18 (19 in some states) to drive for DoorDash and have an iPhone or Android device.

DoorDash will transfer your earnings weekly via bank transfer, but you can also get paid daily, or in some cases instantly, through the DoorDash Crimson program, which also offers cash back on gas purchases up to $600 monthly.

Become a Bookkeeper

If you like numbers, becoming a bookkeeper can be a good option for making money from home. You don't need an accounting degree, although an online bookkeeping certification is a good place to start. Sites like Bookkeepers.com can help you start or grow an online bookkeeping business.

Bookkeepers.com offers multiple courses to help you set up and maintain your business. You can start with the Bookkeeper Launch program, which allows you to learn modern bookkeeping skills and create, market, and manage an online bookkeeping business. The Bookkeeper Launch program costs $2,499, which is an investment, but it could be a good option if you're serious about starting a business. They also have courses ranging from $97 for "Cybersecurity for Bookkeepers" to $2,995 for the "Marketing Machine" course.

Provide care services

If you like interacting with people or pets, consider providing care services to make money.

Rover is a job board focusing on pet and house sitting, walking dogs, and other pet-related services. You can set your rates, and Rover provides up to $25,000 in vet care reimbursement through the platform. You must pass a background check, and Rover charges pet sitters a 20% booking fee in addition to what they charge the client.

Care.com provides many opportunities to help others, including tutoring, housekeeping, babysitting, senior care, and pet care. You can sign up for a free profile after passing a background check.

Once Care.com accepts your profile, you can browse the job board and look for clients. Depending on the task and the posting, Care.com will pay you through the platform or the client may pay you directly. Care.com charges a service fee on every booking, and it can take one to three business days to receive payment.

Do task work

If you like hands-on work, consider signing up with TaskRabbit. Becoming a Tasker on TaskRabbit means helping people move, assemble furniture, do yard work, mount TVs, and other physical tasks. It charges a $25 registration fee in some areas but lets you set your schedule and rates.

If you are a freelancer with marketable writing, graphic design, IT, or coding skills, look for work on Upwork or Fiverr.

Each offers a variety of job postings, including traditional freelance jobs, but it also offers less common projects like transcription services, translation help, software development, accounting, customer support, and even music or voice-over work.

Signing up and creating a profile on either Upwork or Fiverr is free, but you often have to pay to boost your profile so that clients see it. You can set your rates, propose projects to clients, and use the platform to process payments and handle administrative tasks.

However, both sites have a lot of competition, and you may find it difficult to win clients and make a reasonable rate. Both sites charge you for work you accept through them. Upwork charges a 10% fee on all earnings, including hourly, fixed-price, and catalog projects. Fiverr charges a 20% service fee.

Become a transcriber

Try providing transcription services if you have consistent access to a computer and an internet connection. Sites like TranscribeMe and Daily Transcript can help you get started, especially if you already have experience with transcription or have special skills like translating.

TranscribeMe hires freelancers and pays between $15 and $22 per audio hour, with the possibility for more. The site pays you via PayPal and requires an entrance exam to get started. You'll need to complete at least one job every 30 days to maintain your account, but otherwise, you can choose when to work based on your schedule.

Alternatively, Daily Transcript pays between $45 and $66 per hour of material for general transcription and even more for medical or legal transcription. People who speak a foreign language and can translate into English may earn a significantly higher rate. The site also offers classes to help you get started with transcription.

Deliver groceries

Target owns a grocery delivery service called Shipt and will pay you to shop and deliver orders from stores like Target (of course), CVS, Walgreens, Ulta, and Petco. You must be at least 18, have a U.S. driver's license and car insurance, and be able to lift 50 pounds to shop for Shipt.

Shipt pays a base rate per order plus tips and bonuses. Once you complete your first weekly payout, you can opt in to the Instant Pay program and get paid once a day using Stripe. You can also receive a direct deposit every Friday for work completed the previous Monday through Sunday.

Similarly, Instacart pays shoppers to deliver orders from local grocery stores, Costco, Kohl's, and Staples, among others. You must be 18, have a bank account, access to a smartphone and vehicle, and be able to lift at least 40 lbs (with or without accommodation). Instacart lets you cash out within two hours of delivery or sign up for a weekly direct deposit.

Other ways to make extra cash

Of course, if none of the side hustles above appeal to you, there are many other ways to make extra money. Two options are Survey Junkie and Freecash, apps that pay you to do various online tasks like taking surveys and playing games.

You won't make much money from either site, but they could be good options for people looking to make money in their spare time and with little effort.

Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is an online platform that connects market research companies with consumers who want to get paid for taking surveys. When you sign up, you'll have to fill out a demographics and interests profile, and Survey Junkie will match you with brands looking for feedback. As you complete surveys, you'll earn points, which you can trade for cash via PayPal, gift cards, or bank transfer.

Freecash

Similarly, Freecash is a site that offers games, some surveys, and other money-earning opportunities. It's available as an Android app and for desktop or Apple devices through a web browser.

Freecash will pay you for reaching specific levels in various games, and it offers a $5 bonus when you sign up and download your first game.

The site does put some users in Lite Mode, which limits the games and tasks you qualify for and how much you can earn. Additionally, you can't withdraw the $5 bonus until you earn at least $20. You can withdraw funds via bank transfer, PayPal, gift card, and other methods, but Freecash charges a 5% processing fee on PayPal or bank transfer withdrawals.
