Runner-Up: Cooper Street Granola Bakes

Cooper Street Granola Bakes

Price: $9.99

Are you tired of the same basic granola bars? These Cooper Street bakes are a tasty 110-calorie alternative.

The 18-pack includes nine oatmeal cranberry and nine blueberry pomegranate artificial ingredient-free flavors for under $10. A smaller 12-pack of the blueberry pomegranate flavor costs $17.99 on the brand's website.

Runner-Up: Galil Organic Roasted Chestnuts

Galil Organic Roasted Chestnuts

Price: $6.39

Score this six-bag box of USDA organic roasted chestnuts at Costco right now. While we enjoy the flavor, the unbeatable low price makes this pick one of our runners-up.

Compare the warehouse club's price to $15 for the same product on Amazon. ShopGalil sells the individual 3.5-ounce bags for $2.99. That equals nearly $18 for the six packs you can get at Costco for $6.39

Even though price is a plus, it's not the only reason to toss a box of these roasted chestnuts into your shopping cart. The sweet potato-like taste makes them an alternative to the same peanuts, pistachios, and almonds you always buy in bulk. According to the University of Missouri's Center for Agroforestry, chestnuts are packed with Vitamin C, fiber, protein, and antioxidants.

Runner-Up: IQ Bar

IQ Bar

Price: $18.99

Pass on pricy candy bars and try this smart selection instead. Costco sells an 18-count variety pack of low-carb snacks for less than $19.

Each box includes six peanut butter chips, chocolate sea salt, and almond butter chip flavors. The keto-friendly pick is soy-free, dairy-free, vegan, and fiber-rich. Why didn't this healthier alternative win our round-up?

Fans of the bar note that it doesn't only include natural ingredients. Redditor chilson33 wrote, "They are good and pretty filling. I know some people don't like any processed food and that's great, but it's not realistic for me. I think these bars are better than most of the keto treats."

Runner-Up: Hippeas Chickpea Puffs

Hippeas Chickpea Puffs

Price: $12.99

Get 26 bags of Hippeas chickpea puffs for under $13. The box includes 13 vegan white cheddar and 13 nacho vibes packs. Unlike most potato chips, Hippeas puffs are baked — and not fried.

If you're wondering just how popular these puffs are, Costco Redditor Captzone praised the snack, "As a vegan, they are amazing. My Costco near me doesn't sell these anymore. Hoping they come back eventually. For now I'm stuck buying them from Whole Foods at a higher cost."

While you can get this bulk buy at Costco for a bargain, Whole Foods sells a single eight-ounce bag for $8.69.

Shopping pro tip: This month's best deals

January is here, bringing fresh starts, clean slates, and a renewed focus on routines. As the new year kicks off, so do savings, making it the perfect time to reset your space and budget with smart seasonal buys. Look for deals on:

  • Fitness gear, wellness products, and activewear
  • Home organization essentials
  • Cold-weather basics, like coats, boots, and cozy layers
  • For grocery savings, look for seasonal produce, including citrus fruits, leafy greens, and root vegetables

With post-holiday markdowns and a shift toward fresh priorities, January is a great time to shop smart, stock up, and set the tone for a well-prepped year ahead.

Runner-Up: Universal Bakery Organic Aussie Bites

Universal Bakery Organic Aussie Bites

Price: $8.99

Rolled oats, flax seeds, dried apricot bits, quinoa, sunflower seeds, honey, coconut, and quinoa give these healthy bite-sized snacks a subtly sweet taste.

The USDA organic treats have zero grams of trans fat and 130 calories per serving. The one bite per serving size puts these snacks on the higher end of the calorie spectrum, making them a runner-up and not our winner.

This pick doesn't sacrifice nutrition for flavor. Take it from Costco Redditor Vet-Chef, who wrote, "These are so good, I can't even explain it to you guys." Argyrus777 added, "These are my emergency meals. Late for work and no time for breakfast? Eat about four of these while driving to work."

Runner-Up: Calbee Harvest Snaps

Calbee Harvest Snaps

Price: $9.69

Treat yourself to a lower-salt snack. Instead of regular potato chips, try these baked green peas. The gluten-free, lightly salted crisps are plant protein-rich.

Costco's mega-sized bag is a bargain per ounce compared to what other retailers charge. The warehouse club sells this healthy snack at $0.48 per ounce, compared to Target's $0.91.

Overall, the nutrition, taste, and low price combo puts these snaps near the top of the list.

Runner-Up: Kirkland Organic Hummus Cups

Kirkland Organic Hummus Cups

Price: $8.89

Snacks don't always come in chip or bar form. These individual servings of hummus are a steal. You'll get 20 of the 2.5-ounce cups for under $9. Pop one of these minis into your tote and pair it with pita crisps or multi-grain crackers.

Not only is the 20-pack a grocery store bargain, but it's also a fraction of what you could pay for takeout. Redditor cucumbercologne commented, "Kirkland Single-Serve Organic Hummus (20 Pack) is the only store-bought hummus with a similar taste and texture to that of my most favorite Lebanese restaurant, nothing else comes close." And we get it. That's why this pick almost landed at the top of our list.

Winner: That's It Mini Fruit Bars

That's It Mini Fruit Bars

Price: $15.99

Why are these so healthy? To start with, they only have two ingredients. While other fruit bars have a long list of chemical additives or are packed with sugar, these are made with apples and strawberries, mangoes, or blueberries. And as a bonus, you won't find added sugar in this bargain buy.

What do Costco shoppers have to say about this winner? Redditor randomacct7679 raved, "I love those! I'd love it more if they made a bigger variety bag with more of the different flavor combos. At least the ones in the bag are really good."

SNES_Salesman added, "We were reluctant to go all in on a Costco sized bag without trying, but then these were given out during an in-flight snack, and now it's a staple in our house."

While Costco's website lists the 24-bar variety bag as $15.99, we found an 18.8-ounce pack for $13.99 in-store at a local club.

Quick tips: How to save on your grocery bill

StockPhotoPro/Adobe woman checking the grocery receipt

Grocery shopping doesn't have to break the bank when you use the right strategies. Here are three quick tips for reducing food expenses:

  • Buy store brands instead of name brands whenever possible.
  • Always make sure to compare unit prices, not just sticker prices.
  • Join your store's loyalty program so you don’t miss out on member discounts.

Even though something like choosing coupons in your grocery store app can feel like an annoying task, the savings can really add up.

Bottom line

Skip overly sweet and salty treats and instead add some of our favorite Costco snacks packed with plenty of healthy ingredients to your cart. Plus, these buys are budget-friendly options.

The savings don't have to stop at the register. Use top cash back credit cards to earn travel points to use towards a vacation and other perks on eligible purchases.
