American Express cardholders can get exclusive access to savings on a wide variety of purchases through the Amex Offers program. Even better, the program is easy to use and is available on both Amex personal and business cards.
If you want to save money on purchases you may already be making, consider implementing Amex Offers into your everyday finances. In this guide, you’ll learn how the Amex Offers program works and which Amex cards offer this added benefit. This will help you understand how Amex Offers can provide you with multiple savings opportunities regularly.
What is Amex Offers?
Amex Offers is a free discount program that’s available to most American Express card members. If you compare credit cards, you might see similar programs from other credit card issuers, like Chase Offers from Chase.
American Express constantly adds new offers to Amex Offers, which you can check through your Amex online account or through the American Express mobile app. You have to manually add offers into your account to use them, but it doesn’t take more than a few seconds. Then you use your card at the applicable retailer to redeem the offer.
Enrollment in Amex Offers is automatic when you become an Amex cardholder, but it’s up to you to check for offers, add them, and redeem them. If you want to receive email reminders about available Amex Offers, be sure to select the “Membership” option in your marketing email preferences in your online account:
What types of offers are available through Amex Offers?
The Amex Offers program typically provides offers from loads of different retailers. This could include electronics stores, apparel brands, hotel chains, and more. For a full list of available offers, log into your online account from the American Express website or the American Express mobile app.
You’ll typically be able to see how many offers are available and which ones have been added to your card.
Keep in mind that different cards might have their own unique sets of offers. However, some offers may be the same between multiple cards. This allows you to have access to more offers, as well as use the same type of offer on multiple cards if it’s one you like.
Here you can see one American Express card has certain offers:
But here another American Express card has the same offers:
If you find an offer you want to use, be sure to select the “Add to Card” option to add your offer. In addition, carefully read the details of the offer and terms to understand how you can use the offer and receive your statement credits. Here’s an example of an offer for MGM Resorts:
This offer states you have to spend at least $250 on your linked card on room rate and room charges at eligible MGM Resorts to receive $50 back in statement credits. The offer terms include which MGM Resorts locations are eligible, such as the New York-New York, Luxor, and Excalibur.
In addition, the reservation has to be made directly through MGM Resorts and not a third-party service. You should also note the expiration date of any offer so you know when you have to use it. Although this particular offer essentially gives you a rebate in the form of a statement credit, other offers might allow you to earn bonus points or cash back when you make a purchase with a qualifying retailer.
